Post Date:11/06/2020

Fairfax City residents who need help paying their city real estate and personal property taxes have a new option: an interest-free loan through the Treasurer’s Office, in partnership with John Marshall Bank.

The Taxpayer Assistance Program, or TAP, allows residents to borrow $250 - $15,000 to pay for real estate taxes and personal property taxes. Taxpayers repay loans in a set period of time (from six to 10 months) with no interest. Click here to visit the program website:

Those with delinquent taxes or fees may apply for TAP. Personal property tax loans are allowed only as part of a real estate TAP loan.

Typically, taxpayers apply in person in the Treasurer’s Office — however, during the COVID-19 pandemic, applications will be prepared by city staff during applicant phone interviews. Applications will be signed and finalized in-person at the Treasurer’s Office.
